On Tuesday morning the whole school enjoyed a visit to The Museum of the Moon. This stunning sculpture features a 7m diameter moon replica, constructed using high-resolution NASA imagery that intricately mirrors the lunar surface. Dreamt up and designed by artist Luke Jerram, the glittering, monolithic moon truly was a breathtaking sight to behold, and all the children, from Reception right up to Year 6, took something special from the shared experience. The children spent time engaged in a talk about the Moon, absorbing the details of the close-up craters, and looking for meaningful landmarks such as The Sea of Tranquility. It really was a magical time where we looked upon our planet’s only natural satellite with perhaps the same awe and wonder as our ancestors surely did when they stood beneath the sparkling sight in the night sky. With such memories made, we hope it has inspired some young space rocket engineers and astronauts of the future! Finally, all the children were beautifully behaved, and we were so proud of each and every one of them for their exemplary behaviour. What a wonderful morning to make us all aspire for the stars!
